75-meter picnics 75-meter picnics:


This was a big yearly ham radio event that was at its peak in the 60's and 70's. It looks similar to Field
Day, but was more focused on family and social gathering. Unlike Field Day, it wasn't hosted by a single
radio club, but instead involved hams from across the state.

There was lots of food and getting to catch up with people that you may have spoken weekly or even daily with
over the coarse of the last year without ever getting to meet them in person. Also lots of getting to see each
other's families and see how the kids have grown.

The 75 meter net still meets regularly on the air, but I don't think they've held a picnic in a long time.
